I know I need a common denominator, so do I multiply -12 and 14 by (x+7)?

87. - 12 / x + 12/ x+7 = 14

I'n guessing that before you get a response you will have to be clear on what the problem is. Is 87 the problem number or part of the problem? If it's part of the problem, why the "."? Do you mena 12/(x+7) which means \(\displaystyle \frac{12}{x+7}\) or 12/x+7 which means \(\displaystyle \frac{12}{x}+7\)?

87 is the problem number.
I'm sorry, I mean 12/(x+7)
Do you think you could help me?

Your equation: - 12 / x + 12/ (x+7) = 14

Multiply EACH term by x(x+7):
-12x(x+7) / x + 12x(x+7) / (x+7) = 14x(x+7)
-12(x+7) + 12x = 14x(x+7)

Finish it.
