This week we learned about Ratio and proportaions,

I am getting most of the work but then one of my problems is this

3/7X=127 (that 3/7 is a fraction with the X equal on the line) :?

I just can't figure out how to make that work. Can someone work it out step by step so I can figure it out then keep going from there on the rest of the questions.

Thanks in advance!!!

:D

Hmmm.....hard to tell what you mean with that bracketed explanation;
is it 3/7 times X = 127, and you have to solve for X ?

Anyway, as a rule:
if (a/b)x = c, then ax = bc

IF your problem is

(3/7)x = 127

then, to get 1x, or just x, on the left side, you'll need to multiply both sides of the equation by 7/3. That's because (7/3)(3/7) = 1.

(7/3)(3/7)x = (7/3)(127/1)

x = 889/3

or, if you want the answer as a mixed number,
x = 296 1/3

You can verify that this is correct by substituting 889/3 for x in the original equation:

(3/7)(889/3) =? 127

Do the arithmetic on the left side; you should get 127.

I hope this helps you.
