How so some ever [assuming a bunch], it is sometimes (a lot of the times) useful to keep units around. Let's do the classic "A chicken and a half lays an egg and a half in a day and a half. How long does it take 1 chicken to lay one egg?". Well 1.5 chickens for 1.5 days is 2.25 chicken days to lay 1.5 eggs or
1.5 eggs per 2.25 chicken-days
so, canceling the 1.5,
1 egg per 1.5 chicken-days.
So 1 chicken has to put in 1.5 chicken-days, i.e. 1 chicken for 1.5 days, to produce 1 egg, or
1 egg per 1.5 chicken-days * 1.5 chicken-days = 1 egg.
