y - (4y^1/2) - 5 = 0

i need to solve for y
i know that y=25 but how does one get that answer?

y - 4y^1/2 - 5 = 0

Wince you didn't tell us what you have tried, I get to pick on you a little.

Hmmm... What do you know about the quadratic formula?

Could you do it if it were:

x^2 - 4*x - 5 = 0?
