Also, you need to learn some rules for typing math. I can't tell what your equation is because you did not use grouping symbols to indicate what's under the square root symbol.

Here's my guess:

\(\displaystyle \sqrt{2x + 6} \ = \ x \ + \ 2\)

If this is correct, then here is how we type it, using a keyboard.

sqrt(2x + 6) = x + 2

Begin by squaring both sides. Doing that leads to a quadratic equation.

Show us what you get, or correct the equation, if I guessed wrongly.
