Hi!
Here is the question:
The company Shirts Galore has figured its total cost of producing and selling x units of T-shirts per month is given by the equation C(x)

120 + 2.5x - 0.0002x

.

a) Write a rational function to represent the average cost of producing and selling a shirt.
b) If the production level is 1200 shirts per month, find the average cost of producing and selling a shirt.
c) If the shirts are sold for $7.98 a shirt, what is the profit realised on producing and selling 1 200 shirts per month?
d) What price must be charged when selling the shirts for a profit of $7368 to be made on 1 200 shirts in one month?

I honestly have no idea how to even start part a. I thought that you couldn't change a quadratic into a rational function?
Any help on this, even where to start is very much appreciated!

They've given you an expression (being the polynomial that's equal to C(x)) which represents the cost of selling "x" shirts. They're asking for the expression which represents selling one shirt.

If they'd given you a number (say, $100) for the cost of 20 shirts, what would be the cost of one shirt? What mathematical operation did you use to find that value?

If they'd given you a number (say, $100) for the cost of 25 shirts, what would be the cost of one shirt? What mathematical operation did you use to find that value?

If they'd given you a number (say, $100) for the cost of 10 shirts, what would be the cost of one shirt? What mathematical operation did you use to find that value?

If they'd given you a number (say, $100) for the cost of 5 shirts, what would be the cost of one shirt? What mathematical operation did you use to find that value?

Now they've given you an expression for the cost of x shirts. Use the exact same mathematical operation to find (the expression for) the cost of 1 shirt.

If you get stuck, please reply with your work and answers to the above questions. Thank you! ;)
