Determine the equation of the quadratic function in vertex form with vertex(5,10) and passing through the point (4,12).
y = a(x-r)(x-s)
y = a(x-5)(x-10)
12 = a(4-5)(4-10)
12 = a(-1)(6)
12 = -6a
12/-6 = -6a/-6
-2 = a
y = -2(x-5)^2 + 10
=-2(x-5)(x-5) + 10
= -2(x^2 -5x -5x + 25)
= -2(x^2 -10x + 25)
= -2x^2 +20x-50
Can some tell me if I have done all the steps right and if anything is wrong with it please? The answer is postive 2 instead of negative????
