Am I doing this right?

2x^2 +12x-5=0
A=2; B=12; C= -5

-12+ sqrt12^2- 4(2)(-5) / 2(2)

-12 + sqrt 144+40 / 4

-12 + sqrt 184/4

-12 + 2 sqrt 46 /4

2 (-1 + sqrt 46)/ 2x4

-1 + sqrt 46/ 4

Close, but need grouping to make it right.
[-12 +sqrt(12^2-4(2)(-5))]/(2(2)
[-12+sqrt(144+40)]/4
[-12+sqrt 184]/4
[-12+2 sqrt (46)] /4
Then you went astray because of grouping.
-3+(1/2)sqrt(46)
