Hello everyone! I am having quite a hard time with this equation: 2x^2+4x=1. I first set the equation to zero: 2x^2+4x-1=0. Then, I plug into the quadratic formula: [-4+/-sqrt(4^2-4*2*-1)]/[2(2)]. After doing the operations under the radical and simplifying I end up with: [-4+/-sqrt(24)]/(4). I am confused as to what I do next! If any of you could help me it would be greatly appreciated! (Excuse me if I did not notate properly, I am quite new at this.)

Maybe an error here!

I got x = -1 +-(sqrt2/2)

I checked with completing the square method and quadratic equation.

Hi guy:

Make sure that you copied the original equation correctly (2x^2+4x=1).

Fix the incorrect value (highlighted in red above), and your answer will match Denis'

Cheers :)
