I did this problem but when I checked the solution i was wrong, please let me know where I went wrong.
6x^2-x=12
6x^2-x-12=0
6x^2-8x+9x-12=0
2x(3x-4)+3(3x-4)=0
(2x+3)(3x-4)=0
x=-3/2
x=4/3

You are SO close. Check that step. 9-8 = +1 8-9 = -1
