Do you know the definitions of commutative property of addition, associative property of addition and distributive property of addition?

If not, look into your textbook (index) or Google.

If you are still stuck - come back and tell us what did you find and exactly where you are stuck.

i know the definitions, i just dont get them.none of them make sence to me, and i want to know the answer as i am stuck on this one question for awhile.

Tell us what those are - as you know those - we will explain in detail. Also provide us with the formal definitions given in your book or class notes. We will help you understand.

Please answer Subhotosh Khan's questions. Plus it would be a real help to know what grade you are in.

This problem is NOT hard. The reason it does not make sense to you is that it is so ridiculously simple that you wonder why anyone would ask the question.

\(\displaystyle Obviously,\ 8 + 2 = 2 + 8,\ but\ does\ 8 \div 2 = 2 \div 8?\)
