Hello, I'm taking an advanced calculus class and am having trouble writing out proofs.
Specifically one of the problems I'm having problems with is as follows.

Prove that if n is a natural number greater than 1, then n-1 is also a natural number.

I know that if you have a natural number, which in this problem could be 2,3...,122222,...,and you subtract 1 from that number, then the result will still be a natural number, but I don't know how to prove it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
