For every whole number there exists a greater whole number.

Prove the statement by example; 44 is a whole number and 56 is a whole
number, and is greater than 44. Therefore the statement is true.

Im not sure how to start this please help

"Prove the statement by example." is a horribly misguided demand. One can suggest or conjecture based on a few examples. Prove? No. (Well, unless there're very few possible examples.)

If stated properly, it should insist that you prove the statement by showing EVERY POSSIBLE example. (Look up the first proof of the 4-color problem.)

What do you suppose are your chances of showing an example for EVERY WHOLE NUMBER?

Please give the complete and exact wording. As tkhunny has said, you cannot prove anything by an example although you can disprove something.
