problem with grouping factoring

okay i zoned out halfway through honors alg 2 yesterday. not my fault i was sick and i dont think she expained it anyway or imissed it not important

i cant figure out how to get this problem grouped so it will work all i have is a bunch of eraser marks and confusion

cx^2-cdx-cy-cd^2

help to get started would be nice. i could finish it. she said it wasnt prime so...yah. thanks
 
There's not much to it except for factoring out a c.

If you didn't pay attention in class, I assume you didn't type the problem correctly here, either. I don't see any way to factor this. PLEASE recheck the problem, and repost if you've typed it incorrectly. And in future, it is YOUR responsibility to pay attention in class. I don't appreciate your blaming your teacher for YOUR inattention.
 
this was a while back but i thought id clue everyone in anyway. all you do was factor out a C and you dont know my teacher like i do. she explains one way and lets you stumble through the other type until the next day. but no she hadnt explained it that day so yah. i wasnt as inattentive as i thought.

The problem as given - was the easiest possible factorization problem - only one thing in common and factor it out.

Do you mean she explained much tougher problem - then she threw this softball - and you got confused?!
