I want to solve 13+31= 24, not 44

please help me to solve the problem. :?:

Please don't post your email address. Bots WILL grab it.

Have you tried Bases other than Base 10?

Strangly, another base only for the 13 and 31. Base 10 for the 24. (I think that's cheating)

show me the process please.

There is no paid staff here to help you. Expect to wait hours if not days for a reply.

I suspect that this “problem” is a phony mathematical problem.
If it is a change of base, then that base is greater than 4.
But then 1+3 or 3+1 would be 4.

There is no "process" . . . the problem is a joke, a trick question.

Maybe you form the numbers with toothpicks . . . or in Roman numerals . . .

You might as well say: "How do I solve \(\displaystyle \,2\,+\,2\:=\:5\)?"
\(\displaystyle \;\;\)You can't "solve" it . . . it's not true anyway.

Did basudha mukherjee made up a trick question to waste everyone's time?
YES!
A Troll?
Why do we fall for these Trolls?

No, it is not. It is a middle school Hons student's question from California.

You might not answer that question, doesn't mean that I am tricking

Don't get all excited, basudha :wink:

How would you feel if someone asked you:
solve 54 + 45 = 19, not 99....with no other word of explanation/clarification ?

How about an answer as silly as this:
31 + 13 = 24 ?
difference of tens digits = 2, sum of units digits = 4
54 + 45 = 19 ?
difference of tens digits = 1, sum of units digits = 9

The first two are base 5.
The third is base 10.
135 = 5*1+3=810
31<sub>5</sub>=5*3+1=16<sub>10</sub>
8+16=2410
Didn't anyone read my hint?
