it's a word problem on equation..i want the solution.....

Here it goes..
A man walk a certain distance at a certain rate. Had he walked 1/2 km per hour faster, he would have taken 1 hour less but if he had gone 1 km per hour slower, he would have taken 3 hours longer. Find his original rate of walking and the distance he travelled. ANS: 4 km per hour....36km. ( i want the solution)

Homework not done here.

Did you read "Read before posting"?

… i want the solution … I want to know why you want the solution.

If I'm satisfied with your response, then the next thing that I want is to know whether or not you can state a relationship between the following three concepts.

(1) Distance traveled

(2) Rate of travel

(3) Elapsed time

well. i know the relationship among distance..time...and speed....but in this particular problem, i am failed to draw the relationship...infact, if i was seccessful in drawing the relationship among these 3 quantities, i wouldn't have asked u....because then, there would remain only a simple equation which is not a matter at all...

This response is nonsense, to me.

I cannot help you, over the Internet.

To learn how to set up and solve "uniform rate" types of exercises, try here.

Once you have learned the basics, start by labelling. Pick variables for the original "rate" and "time". Then translate the provided relationships into algebra expressions and equations.

If you get stuck, please reply showing your work and reasoning so far, starting with the variables you picked and how you defined them. Thank you!
