Hi, I'm currently working on a practice test packet for my Statistics class. I'm only having trouble with one section/type of problem which I cannot remember how to do.
A card is selected randomly from a deck of 52:
Find p(heart or club)

Find p(ace)

If you could explain to me how to start the problems I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

Suppose you were asked the probability of drawing a face card. You know there are 52 cards. How many face cards are there? If the face cards are designated as being 10's, Jacks, Queens, Kings and Aces, then there are 20 face cards in all. We build our probability by placing the number of possible outcomes (20) in the numerator and the number of the sample space (52) in the denominator. Hence, your answer is 20/52. Reduce it, then express it in any form you want---fraction (5/13), words (5 out of 13), decimal (0.3846...), percent (38.46...%).

I figured it out, wasn't thinking haha.

I got 13/52 + 13/52 = 26/52 = .50

thanks.
