The question is asking me to graph this equation: y2+10y+x+28
I must put it into standard form which is: (x-h)2/number+ (y-k)2/number=1
and complete the square and I am unsure how to do this with this problem.

y2+10y+x+28=0?
This is not an ellipse. Check your original problem and we can go forward.

This is not an ellipse. Check your original problem and we can go forward.
It cannot be put in "standard form"
1) Were you told this is an
ellipse.
2) Did you verify that the formula is correct as an equation?
The formula IS NOT correct because it is not equal to zero.

Sorry I got the wrong problem from the book the equation is 25x2+9y2-100x+54y-44=0

Given:25x2+9y2-100x+54y-44=0
You need to solve two problems first.

1) 25x2-100x+a = 25(x-b)2
2)
9y2+54y+c = 9(x-d)2
