In 1999, the world's population reached 6 billion and was increasing at a rate of 1.3% per year. Assume that this growth rate remains constant. (In fact, the growth rate has decreased since 1987.)

(a) Write a formula for the world population (in billions) as a function of the number of years since 1999. (Note: Use the general exponential function.)

P(t) =

(b) Use your formula to estimate the population of the world in the year 2039.

You have posted several problems - without showing a line of work.

This is a problem similar to those where you had to calculate compound interest. Do you know the compound interest formula?

If not go to google.com and type in

compound interest formula

Please share with us your work/thoughts so that we know where to begin to help you. Please tell us what relevant equation you did find.

Ya i know the compound interest formula and i have tried solve using it, but each time i get the wrong answer,

Okay - show us your work - even if it is wrong. We will be able to teach you better if we know how you are thinking.
