Hi - I'm in seventh grade and this is my first time here. I'm having problems with a word problem. It is:

Jolene bought three bloused at one price and 2 blouses priced $3 below the others. The total cost was $91.50. Find the prices of the blouses.

I need to write an equation and then solve it. I tried setting it up as: 3b + (2b - 3) = 91.50. I got b= $18.90, but it doesn't seem to work out.

Thanks for helping.

Scott

Price of expensive blouse = b

Price of less-expensive blouse = b-3

Then the equation is

3b + 2*(b-3) = 91.50

Now simplify and solve.....
