I was taking a practice exam on exambank.com and there was this question that I had never done before. I asked my teacher if it would be on the test and she said that it probably would. I would really appreciate an explanation of this please! Thank you!

The sides of a triangle are line segmants along the x-axis, along the y-axis, and along the line x - 2y + 12 = 0.

Determine the area of this triangle.

x-2y+12=0

y=0.5x+6

Find where it intersects the y and x axis. Make y=0, and solve for x. Make x=0, and solve for y.

Graph it on your calculator
area=|(x-intercept)(y-intercept)*0.5|

area=36

is this correct?
