How to show that a vector field (suppose F=2xi+2yj+3zk) is a potential.

This is not the exact vector field i am asked to find . It was kind of complex but i just need to know what this actually means. Is it like the path independence or something like i have to find f. Can anyone help please.
Thanks in advance

What are the properties of a potential vector field?

Please show us what you have tried and exactly where you are stuck.

I have read the rules. I am just asking to understand the question. I can do it myself just need help in understanding what actually i have to find. If you can just help me to understand the question please, i would be thankful.
I have tried everywhere to find how can i check if a vector field is potential but i can only find that F= del f ..where f is a potential function. Nothing exactly. I am forbidden to ask that question here, i am sorry for that also.

Hi Tania. If I were to investigate the meaning, I would start by typing the question directly into a search engine.

Are you sure the question asks whether such a field "is a potential" instead of "has a potential function"?

There are many online lessons and demonstrations available, by googling how to tell if a vector field has a potential function.

:)

Yes the question is to show the vector field is a potential .
I first try to search everywere then i come here to ask dear.

Have you read:

Do you know the definition of a curl of a vector?

Have you taken a course in vector calculus?

Do you understand the following statement:

In vector calculus, a vector potential is a vector field whose curl is a given vector field. This is analogous to a scalar potential, which is a scalar field whose gradient is a given vector field.

Yes i understand. I think it means if we take the curl of the given vector field, the result will be again the original vector field given to us, in that case the field will be vector potential.
