I am having a problem with this problem can you help? Subtract
12m^2-8m^2+6m+7
5m^2 -4

WHAT are you suppose to do: add, subtract, divide, multiply?
Please post problem IN FULL.

use ^ for power sign: m squared : m^2

12m^3 - 13m^2 + 6m + 11

This is correct, but your original post is still wrong.

The first term is supposed to be 12m^3 instead of 12m^2, yes ?

The sooner you start writing subtraction on one line, the better.

I mean, I know we work subtraction in a vertical column when doing arithmetic, but we mstly work horizontally, in algebra.

Write your exercise this way:

12m^3 - 8m^2 + 6m + 7 - (5m^2 - 4)

The grouping symbols are very important. They show that both 5m^2 and -4 are being subtracted.
