i need help figuring out what the answer to this algegraic expression is... it says: a number increased by 8,twice the difference of a number and 7, 20 less than the quotient of a number by 5, fifty decreased by the product of 8 and a number
There are four separate problems to work; you need to write an expression for each of the four English phrases listed above.
When they write "a number" they're talking about some unknown number, and we don't care what it is, in this exercise. In each expression, you use a symbol (like x or n) to represent "a number".
The rest of it requires understanding the vocabulary. It seems like you might need some lessons.
