Ans; (a) 3
(b) 15
(c) 6
(d) 24

My attempt..........
9+4 x 5 - 5


4. / 4
= 13 x 5 -5 = 65-5 = 60/1 My ans 60.

Answer key does not show 60 as a possible answer.
Please show how to solve this prob.

what you started with is (correct me if I'm wrong):

\(\displaystyle \dfrac{3^2 \ + \ 2^2 \cdot 5 \ - \ \sqrt{5}}{8 \ - \ 4./2 + 2}\)


(There might be a fraction bar immediate above that didn't show up.)


You must use PEMDAS.

For the numerator, as you typed,

9 + 4 X 5 - 5 will be treated as

9 + 20 - 5

Continue with that.



And for the denominator,

your next step is incorrect.

Instead,

8 - 4./2 + 2 will become

8 - 2 + 2


Continue with that part.


----- As per PEMDAS, the multiplications and dividing
(from left to right) take precedence over the additions
and subtractions.
