You are employed by a moving company to lay out directions. You want to create the shortest route but also need to ensure that the movie truck can move through all of the narrow back streets. Along one such route there is a one lane tunnel constructed to accommodate the railroad but you are worried that your moving trucks will not make it through. After some research you are able to determine that the tunnel has a parabolic opening and a maximum height of 6 meters. You learned that the ppening across the bottom has a width of 10 meters. In addition you already know that oyur trucks are 2.95 meters tall and 7.5 meters wide.
A. Constuct an equatin to model the parabolic opening. Explain how you derived the equation.
B. Use your equation to determine if the opening is wide enough. Describe how you came to your conclusion.
C. Now let's say you wanted to expand this tunnel for two lanes. What is the minimum width at the base of the tunnel that you would reccommend to allow for two of your trucks to fit underneath at one time. Explain your answer. Remember the height of the tunnel should remain the same as in the above components.
