I have no idea how to parametrize something so I'm really stuck on this problem. Any help would really be appreciated guys and girls!
Consider the line in the x,y - plane given by the equation y=-2.2x+19
here both x and y are both in km
Suppose Jim begins at a point on the curve where x=0
Jim walks (approx) southeast along the line at a rate of 8.1km/hr.

1. Parametrize the line based on distance travelled (s).
2. Parametrize the line based on time travelled (t).
3. Calculate the rate at which the x coordinate is changing.
4. Calculate the rate at which the y-coordinate is changing.

There are a few more but I know how to do those once I can express x and y in terms of t and s. Thanks a bunch for the help.

Nobody?
I know this question may seem too easy but I am just having a hard time expressing xand y in terms of t and s, if I can get x=something w/ t y =something w/ t and x=something w/ s and y=something w/ s I can probably figure the rest of it out, I just don't really know how to parmertrize.

Or perhaps people aren't just sitting around waiting to answer your question! Expecting a response in less than 5 hours is a little silly.

Also, the fact that you have not shown any attempt to do the problem yourself.

Suppose x changes from, say, x_0 to x_1 how does y change? What is the length of that line segment?
