Not sure how to show when something is under a radicand so will just type the word "radicand" before that which is under it.
Need to find domain: y=4(radicand) 3x+5

Thanks so much!

You can type (?) pressing <ALT> and 251 in the number key-pad (for usual MS-DOS keyboards).

Is your problem:

\(\displaystyle ^4\sqrt{3x+5}\)

or

\(\displaystyle ^4\sqrt{3x}+5\)

or

\(\displaystyle 4\cdot \sqrt{3x+5}\)

or something else....

.

Type like this: y = 4 * SQRT(3x + 5) ; by the way, the radicand is 3x + 5.

Hint: 3x + 5 => 0
