Please help! I was asked to determine the two coterminal angles (one positive and one negative) for the angle. Giving the answers in degrees.

central angle = 740 degrees

After converting the degrees for both into rads and subtracting and then adding 18PI/ 9 and then multiplying that answer by 180 degrees/ Pi. I received that angles 740 degrees and 380 degrees, but the answer is 20 degrees and -340 degrees. What did I do wrong? :? Thank you for your help! [/list]

Hello, Muppers3262!

Determine the two coterminal angles (one positive and one negative) for 740o.

After converting the degrees for both into rads . . . Why?
The problem is given in degrees . . . they want the answer in degrees.
Why would you want to convert to radians (or gradients or bzorns) . . . then back ??

Their answers are not the only possible ones . . . there are zillions of them.

You can always find a coterminal angle by adding or subtracting 360o.

Adding: \(\displaystyle \,740^o\;\Rightarrow\;1100^o\;\Rightarrow\;1460^o\;\Rightarrow\;1820^o,\,\) etc.

Subtracting: \(\displaystyle \,740^o\;\Rightarrow\;380^o\;\Rightarrow\;20^o\;\Rightarrow\;-340^o,\;\Rightarrow\;-700^o,\,\) etc.

Take your pick!
