Did you post the complete problem? As written, "show that both of them are equal" does not make sense. Please post the complete problem!

Did you post the COMPLETE problem, as it was given to you - including any and all other instructions?

As written, "show that both of them are equal" does not make sense.

Please post the COMPLETE problem - verbatim!
 
Thank you for your reply. I swear this is the whole thing that was given to me with no instructions and nothing at all. Anyway, I have shared the same image by WhatsApp to a friend and he solved it in detail for me.

They are equal IF [MATH]\frac{dy}{dx} = \frac{1+6e^x}{1+2e^x}[/MATH].

What do you know about y?

Or did you insert a y where it doesn't belong, and the problem is really to differentiate [MATH]8e^x(1+2e^x)^2[/MATH] ?

I think you did mean [MATH]\frac{d}{dx}[8e^x(1+2e^x)^2][/MATH], since this does yield the RHS you show.

Did you use the product rule? Show us your work, and we can help you past whatever point caused trouble. It may be the simplification.
