Please help, Solve for X

I have tried this problem several ways and still can't get the correct answer.

7x - 3 = -5x + 8


I tried subtracting 7x from both sides when checked wrong answer.
I tried subtraction -5x from both sides when checked wrong answer. I am not sure of what I am doing wrong. can some one help

I copy the wrong problem( didn't have my glasses on)

The problem is :

7x - 3 = -5x - 18

7x + 5x - 3 = -5x + 5x - 18

12x - 3 + 3 = -18 + 3

12x = -15

x = -15/12

Your work is correct. On what basis do you feel your answer to be incorrect?

If you are feeding it to a computer you might have to reduce the fraction.
