Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could separate the angle beta in the following equation,
I am trying to work out this angle as part of a problem (to do with shining torches on walls) and have figured out how to work out the height of the ellipse (h) which the torch makes on a wall, and how to work out the torch beam angle (alpha) from the width of the ellipse, but I've been struggling to get beta on its own in this equation...I have tried for nearly 4 days with no luck! d is the distance of the torch from the wall.
h = d*sin(2*alpha)*sin(beta) / [sin(beta+alpha)*sin(beta-alpha)]
many thanks for any help you can give me.
