If Neil, weighing 150 pounds, jumps with an initial velocity of 8 ft/sec, calculate his hang time on the earth as well as the moon, given the moon has one-sixth the gravitational pull of the earth. Then calculate the maximum height of his jump in each location.

How can I use the quadratic function?

I don't know how to get - b/2a and once I know that then I should be able to solve the rest.
 
I don't know what to do, all I know is my teacher said to use the Quadratic Function for this problem.

If it is not to much to ask then can you just help me by starting from the beginning, because I know that ax2+bx+c=0 but don't know how to get that, but after I get that then it will make things a lot easier for me.

What equation or formula did they give you for projectile-motion word problems? ;)
