The length of the top of a table is 5 inches greater than the width. The area of the table is 66 square inches. What are the dimensions of the table?

Let the length be l and the width be w.

Since the length is 5 in greater than the width, adding 5 in to the width make them equal.

l = w + 5

The area of the table is given by the product of the length and the width.

lw = 66

You have two equations and two unknowns. Can you solve the simultaneous equations? :)
