I have a problem set up and it ask me to solve for h

I know that pi is 3.146 and r^2 is radius square but I can't figure out how to solve for h

Here it is. Any help than can be offered would be greatly appriciated.

A=Pi*(r^2)*h
 
Divide through by (pi)(r<sup>2</sup>).

I am not sure I follow you on that do you men that I divide like this?

(Pi/12.56664)(4/12.5664)=h
(4.0)(3.1416)=h
12.5664=h

Is that even close to what you mean. Thanks for trying to help me. :)
 
well this is what i finally came up with. Am I close?

A=Pi*(r^2)*h
(pi)(r2)=4
Pi/4 4/4
h=.7853981
A= Pi*(r^2)*.7853981634
A=9.8
 
Why are you setting (pi)r<sup>2</sup> equal to 4? Where did that come from?

Why are you ending up with a numerical value for A? Weren't you supposed to be solving for h in terms of A and r?

You're doing things that aren't in the problem you posted. Please post the full text of the original exercise, along with the complete instructions. Please also include your reasoning. thank you.

This is all I have on the problem and I will post it. I have no other instructions or any other problems like this one in my text book. So I can only post what I have. That is part of my dilemma because I have never done anything like this before using this formula. I am sorry that I can't be more clear than this but this is what I have. I appreciate you attempting to help me with this and I hope you understand I am a novice to say the least with this. Again thanks for the assistance.

Solve for h

A=Pi*(r^2)*h
 
Just do what I said: divide through on both sides by (pi)r<sup>2</sup>.
