I have to write it in words because I cannot find the symbol for square root. The problem reads as follows:
x plus the square root of x equals 2. The instructions are: Solve. I will appreciate help since it's the last problem on a test and I can't seem to get it right!

\(\displaystyle x \, + \, \sqrt{x} \, = \, 2\)

\(\displaystyle \sqrt{x} \, = \, 2 \, - \, x\)

Now square both sides and solve the quadratic equation.

Finally check your answer by putting the results into the original equation.

The answer set was 1 and 4 but after checking with the original equation it could only be 1. Thanks again!
