I am not quite sure if I am in the right category or not, but I thought that exponential would fall under some sort of algebra.
I really need help with this problem because I do not know how to isolate and solve for T or temperature. I tried taking the ln
of both sides, but did not get the right answer. I would appreciate some help if possible. Thank you.
Equation:
P = (50014 atm) e-1985/T

P= 20.9 atm, what is T?

P = (50014 atm) e-1985/T First, we need to properly type the equation.

(1) Do not include units within equations; save the reporting of any units for your final answer.

(2) Use the caret symbol ^ and parentheses, to clearly show the exponent

P = 20.9, what is T?

P = 50014 e^(-1985/T)

Step 1: Substitute the given value for P

20.9 = 50014 e^(-1985/T)

Step 2: Isolate the power of e by dividing both sides by 50014

Step 3: Switch to logarithmic form

ln(20.9/50014) = -1985/T

Step 4: Use a scientific calculator to evaluate the natural logarithm

Step 5: Solve for T, in the usual way

Please show your work, if you would like more help.

I get T = 255.1 degrees (rounded), but I don't know the temperature scale in which T is measured, so I left off units like "Kelvin" or "Celcius", etc. 8-)
