Thank you for taking the time to read this. The section of the book is titled: "Arc Lengths and Areas of Sectors"; it is geometry.

. . .Find the area of a sector of a circle with radius 24m
. . .and central angle 36 degrees.

I put:

. . .1/10 is the circumference

. . .the length is (1/10)*2(pi) (5)^2

. . .A = (1/10)*(pi)(5)^2

Please tell me if I'm right. Thank you!

The area of a sector of a circle is given by \(\displaystyle \L\\\frac{1}{2}r^{2}{\theta}\)

Make sure your degrees are radians before using this formula

36 degrees is π5\displaystyle \frac{\pi}{5} radians.

12(24)2π5=288π5m2\displaystyle \frac{1}{2}(24)^{2}\frac{\pi}{5}=\frac{288{\pi}}{5}m^{2}
