Below is the homework problem that I need to solve for my college Alegbra course. I am clueless when it comes to Alegbra and have been working on my assigment over the course of a few days, using library resources and an algebra program to understand and find the answers to my problems. This is my last one and this forum really is the last exhaustable resource. My work is below and I already know it is incorrect but can't seem to find any specific literature on how to write a correct model for the problem below. Please advise what measures I need to take. I have already read over several models online and in my book but can't find any like the one below. Thank you and Happy New Year.
A tennis club offers two payment options:
Option 1: $42 monthly fee plus $5/hour for court rental
Option 2: No monthly fee but $8.5t0/hour for court rental.
Let x = hours per month of court rental time.
a) Write a mathematical model representing the total monthly cost, C, in terms of x for the following:
Option 1: C=__42 +__5(h)_____________ This is my work here.
Option 2: C=_8.50(h)________________ This is my work here.
b) How many hours would you have to rent the court so the monthly cost of option 1 is less than option 2? Set up an inequality and show your work algebraically using the information in part a.
