Many of us are from a really academic community. [So what? Going to college has you proud and arrogant like tkhunny].
In such communities, give and take is just a matter of course.
As such, it is no place for the thin-skinned. [You are right. I do not want to be a part of a proud math bunch of jerks].

I, for one, often forget that you may not be a university student. [Do you me, sir? I have three college degrees in areas OUTSIDE OF math, okay?


So please understand that you have been treated with a different kind of respect, as if you are more mature than you seem to be. [There is only ONE TYPE of respect---DECENT. People are either respected or not. ]
Frankly, I found Guido’s rant as the most unprofessional on this site. [No, Guido is a kind person whose recent attack against two jerks who should NOT be here at all is TOTALLY fine by me. He came to my defense and I really like him and Soroban. I told Ted, the owner of the site, to STRICKLY forbid tutor tkhunny from answering my questions but I guess tkhunny DOES NOT understand simple words like: GET LOST YOU BUMB!!]
If the sort of treatment does bother you then I advise you to not plan to major in mathematics at university. [What does majoring in math have to do with the stupid things that people are saying about me here? There are professionals and jerks with degrees. Which one are you? If you, like tkhunny, plan to insult me, PLEASE stay away from my questions.]

There is much to defend, here, but I'll just let it all go and add a few final comments.

Janet, no one has attempted to insult you, here, certainly not me. I am very sorry you have chosen to take offense. Offense is not at any time my intent and offense is not at any time my motivation. Nevertheless, the choice is yours. If you will get an unbiased third party to read all the comments to which you have taken offense, you will see that such comments could be taken in other ways that are not offensive and that it is possible no offense was intended. This may settle the matter in your mind and allow you to be less angry.

There is little doubt in my mind that, if I had a class and if you were in my class for a semester, you would learn some mathematics, and you would learn it very well. Sharp, bold, and strong minds like yours do tend to examine things with care and fortitude. You may hate me a couple of minutes into the semester, but it would not be because I insulted you or demeaned you. It would be only because I challenged you. Folks, like you, who have established a substantial measure of social independence, often do not like others caring about them, sufficient to challenge them when it seems necessary. Such have decided that they know what is best and do not appreciate others telling them otherwise. That can be OK or it can be counterproductive. If you complained to my superiors about the problem, I would hope they would see the situation for what it truly is and make a rational and reasonable judgment. Sometimes styles don't match. That does not mean one is arrogant and another is unreasonably angry. Sometimes, styles just don't match.

I hope your days are better and that you can be less angry.

I've had just about enogh of you, greatwhiteshark. You just insulted two of the best tutors around for no reason at all. THEY ARE TRYING TO CHALLENGE YOU, NOT BOTHER YOU! WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?!

If you ever get an answer from anyone that you're not satisfied with, post a reply telling us what you're still stuck on. Someone will help you until you've got it down.
 
and i guess they are both just trying to help and make you really think instead of just getting you by althought tkhunny's comment on me being grounded only for the summer is getting off easy.but thats just their opinion i guess, in a more straight off way idk i really dont see how big of a deal it is it is a math board..
 
ive never really had a problem with them tkhunny has tried to help me, just one time about their comment about my being grounded the summer is getting off easy, but thats just their straight off opinion i guess, and since they are in college theyve been through alot of schooling and maybe deserve to be respected a little more in the math boards, they know alot more than all of us.but i guess its a public math board n i can see where greatwhiteshark aka janet is coming from.i understand both views.

well i hope you dont take any offense to this but 1)she is also a senior member20a senior member is just the amount of posts you make and 3)your not a moderator 40 tkhunny was sensible with it and didnt order anyone, and they are a Mod.4) again, please take no offense to this.
