I recently found out how to graph piecewise functions on my Voyage 200/TI-92.
I had never really given this any thought until a student brought it up. Though, she wanted to know how on a TI-83 Plus.
So, I got to thinking, how to do it on my calculators?.
Here is the screen shot to graph:
\(\displaystyle f(x)=\left\{\begin{array}{rcl}\left{x^{2}+x, \;\ x\leq 1\\ x, \;\ x>1\end{array}\right\)
Also, you can plot a piecewise in Y1 by using WHEN.
Go the the graphing screen and type \(\displaystyle when(x\leq 1,x^{2}+x,x)\)
The screen shot for that format is below as well.
Many of you may have already known this, but it was new to me. Always learn something new about these calculators. They do so much.
