Perimeter of a parallelogram

What is the formula for finding the area of a parallelogram?
If you just need a formula do a google search!

If you still have questions - let us know. You'll need to tell us what formulas you did find and point out exactly where you are stuck.

if i AM FINDING PERIMETER OF PARALLELELOGRAM WOULD I USE
P=SIDE+SIDE+SIDE+SIDE and would that be my awnser or
p= side x side x side x side divided by 4 becuase there are 4 sides

In your thread subject-line says:

Perimeter of a parallelogram

However your OP says:

What is the formula for finding the area of a parallelogram?

Which one are you looking for?

I did a google search with key-word "Perimeter of a parallelogram" - and google found ~117000 relevant sites for me!

What were you searching in there?

i was asking for the basic equation of a perimeter. and the answer was
P= (2.L)+(2.W)
  • . is multiply
  • L is length
  • W is Width

You found the correct equation for the perimeter of the parallelogram.

Do you have any other query for this thread?

That is the perimeter of a rectangle. A parallelogram is generally described by base and height rather than length and width, which would be ambiguous.

In the case of perimeter, though, we need the lengths of the two pairs of opposite sides, which might be called A and B (say, B = base and A = slanting side). And the formula is then

P = 2A + 2B

which is effectively just what you said, but with different names. This is, of course, the same as what you said previously, the sum of the four sides, two of one length and two of another.

On the other hand, when you said "p= side x side x side x side divided by 4", that is wrong.
