Hi,

I need help determining if this math problem was done correctly.

Quesiton is:
Minh’s data shows that on average only 4.6% of customers were purchasing complementary services available within Media Systems. By using his company’s services, Minh was projecting that these percentages would triple across all user groups within 1 year. a) How many customers would that equate to in total for each group? b) What would be the difference compared to current levels?

Here is my answer:
Part A Part B
70000 * 4.60% * 3 = $9660 70000*9.2% =$6440
58000 * 4.60% * 3 = $8004 58000*9.2%=$5336
30000 * 4.60% * 3 = $4140 30000*9.2%=$2760
18000 * 4.60% * 3 = $2484 18000*9.2%=$1656

I believe part A is right but I am unsure if I did Part B correctly.

I understand part B to mean the differnece between current level which is 1 year (70000 * 4.6% = $3220). Then take what I got from Part A which is 3 years and subtract the current level which is 1 year and that is the difference.

Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!

WHY the dollar signs?

x customers triple, so end up with 3x;
increase is 3x - x = 2x

Wonder why a teacher would devise such a confusingly worded
question for something so basic...

so then my answer is correct isn't it?
