In January 2008, the federal government reduced the GST rate from 6% to 5%. What was the resulting percent reducation in GST consumers paid for items.

(0.05 - 0.06) / 0.06 = -0.17

is this right or should it be like this

(0.06 - 0.05) / 0.06 = 0.17

I get confused with these to, the way you can remember how to do these is (new-old)/old=%change

Since they are asking for % reduction (not % change), the "negative" is already included. So the answer should be 17%.
