Percent Problem: What number is 6.25% of 78.65?

What number is 6.25% of 78.65?

My work:

x/78.65= 6.25/100
x= 5.11

Is this correct?

I think so b/c 78 is the original number and 6.25 is the percent, so we are looking for what X is. The number over 78.

You can check this yourself. "Is" means "equals". "Of" means "times". Therefore, 6.25% times 78.65 = what? Get out your calculator and find out. If it is 5.11, then I guess you did it right. If it's not, then you need to try again.
 
Percent problem

When I am solving this problem 6.25% times 78.65, do I need to move the decimal point 2 places to the left of the decimal point first before I multiply it by 78.65?

Please help me!! :(

How many times need we answer this? You are set up correctly. You have to do the arithmetic correctly. You should end up with x=(6.25/100)*78.65 or x=(6.25*78.65)/100. Either way.
