would you call this as 2% increase in market share or 8%. The former makes more sense.

"Percent" makes no sense until you say percent of what. Going from 25 to 27%, your share of the market (either this is a very small market or you are wealthy!) increases by 2% of the market. But it has increased by 2/25= .08 or 8% of your original share. Either is correct, depending upon what you are asking about.
