Paying the Landlord

You want to stay at an inn for 7 days.

The landlord will accept one link per day
for your rent to be paid daily. .However,
he does not want 6 split links at the end
of the week. .He will accept the minimum
number of split links.

Looks pretty straight forward to me- there isn't much that you can do so not many "strategies" to consider. You will have to "split" one link to give to the landlord the first day. Let's call that "link1" so that link2, link3, ..., are still attached. On the second day, take that single link back and split link 3 so that you can give him link 2 and 3 still attached. You still have link4, link5, link6, and link7 attached. On the third day, give the landlord that first link again. You still have link4, link5, link6, and link7 attached. On the fourth day, take back all three links back and give link4, link5, link6, and link7. Proceed like that.
