I was wondering how to handle partial differentiation of the argument to a function.

I have an equation of the form \(\displaystyle \[{x^2}+f(\frac{{xy}}{{\sqrt {{x^2}z - xu} }})\]\) and want the partial derivative wrt x. How do I proceed?

Thanks

Assume:

\(\displaystyle u = \ \frac{{xy}}{{\sqrt {{x^2}z - xu} }}\)

then

δ/δx [x2 + f(u)] = 2x + df/du * δu/δx
