I need help, my son is having problems with algebra homework and High School was way too long ago for me to even start helping him. Can someone help me?

2x / x-4 -2 = 4/x+5 Common denominator

3/ x^2+5x+6 - 7/x+3 = x-1/x+2 Common denominator

x^2+2x-15/ X^2+9x+20 / (x-3) Simplify

x+5/x+2 + 6 Common denominator

X^2-1/X+1 - X^2+1/ X-1 common denominator

Unfortunately, it is very, very difficult to translate what you have written.

Finding a common denominator is a matter of finding all the factors of each denominator.

One Denominator: 3
Another Denominator: (x+3)

Common Denominator 3(x+3)

Unfortunately, attempting to tutor through a "translator" who doesn't know the "language" is not generally successful. (I've yet to see it work, I'm afraid.) So please have your son post (or dictate) a reply.

We will need corrected versions of the exercises, as mentioned in the previous reply. The link in the "Forum Help" pull-down menu at the very top of every forum page to "Karl's Notes" should be more than adequate explanation of how to make one's meaning clear.

When he posts the corrections, it would be helpful if he also included the exact instructions, as provided in the assignment.

Also, we will need to see everything your son has tried so far. Since there appear to be only two types of exercises here (solving and simplifying), he may find it simpler to pick one representative exercise of each type (as was suggested in the "Read Before Posting" thread) and show all of his work and reasoning only for these.

Thank you! :D
