I have a question...

Find the equations of all lines through the point (-1,-5) that are tangent to the parabola y= (x^2) - 3x

.

Select the correct answer(s).
(a) -5x-7
(b) -11x+16
(c) -11x-16
(d) -x+4
(e) x-4

Thank you for all of your help!

Well, do it. Have you any idea how to proceed?

Do you know what a derivative is?
Can you use a derivative to aide in the formation of the equation of a line?
Can you draw the parabola?
Can you envision (or rough sketch) the tanget lines through the given point?
Is it important that (-1,-5) is NOT on the parabola?

Show Your Work!!

Find y' for the tangent.
Use the point-slope formula with(-1,-5) as the point.
